Services The Santanyí Local Police Department provides service 24 hours a day. The municipality has implemented a neighbourhood police system, which includes car, motorcycle or foot patrols in the different towns and villages of Santanyí.

Regulations The functions of the local police are defined in article 53 of the Organic Law 2 / 1986 of 13 March, on Security Forces: - Protection of local political representatives and surveillance or custody of municipal buildings and facilities.- Regulation, signaling and direction of traffic in the towns, as established in the traffic regulations. - Conducting of traffic accident statements in the towns and villages - Administrative policing regarding ordinances and other municipal regulations within their competence. - Participation in the functions of the judicial police, as established in article 29.2 of the aforementioned law. - Help in case of accidents, disasters and public calamities participating according to procedure established by law in the execution of the Civil Protection Plans. - Executition of prevention proceedings and proceedings to avoid criminal actions in the collaboration framework of the Security Boards. - Surveillance of public spaces and collaboration with state security forces and the regional police force to protect demonstrations and keep the order of large crowds when requested to. - Cooperation in the resolution of private conflicts when required to do so.
